FAQ - Temporary Road or Street Closure
Complete the Application Form for Temporary Road or Street Closure. This can be downloaded from the Online Forms page or requested by calling the Administration Assistant for Roading on 03 433 0300.
The application has to be received at least 55 days prior to the event. Consideration of late applications will be on a case-by-case basis.
There is a $90.00 application fee for the proposed closure, which can be paid at the Waitaki District Council’s main counter. (Please note that this fee is applicable and non-refundable whether the application is approved or declined). A copy of the receipt should be forwarded to roading (see above).
The applicant is also responsible for meeting the cost of two advertisements in local newspapers which notify the public of the event. Waitaki DC will organise the advertisement and arrange for the invoice to be sent directly to you.
You will receive an acknowledgement letter confirming receipt of your application. Enclosed with this letter will be copies of the Notification forms which you are required to copy and distribute to all affected parties on the street(s)/road(s) in question. These must be returned to the council offices prior to the closing date for objections which will be detailed in the letter.
Should any of the affected parties object, it is the responsibility of the applicant to resolve and mitigate the objector’s concerns. Should an objection remain in place, Council may not be able to approve the application.
Once all of the above processes have been completed and all objectors satisfied, you will receive confirmation of the applications approval.
