Domestic Vs Rural Water Rates at Hampden and Moeraki

Domestic Water is 900 lt/day and is based on the Township Zone as per District Plan.

The Rural water is 1800 lt/day and is based on the Rural Zone as per District Plan.

You may need to check the District Plan zoning maps to identify the property.

Storage Tank Requirements on Rural Water Schemes

To comply with Rural Water Scheme Bylaws, Water Storage tanks be capable of holding  a minimum of THREE DAYS SUPPLY, based on the rated points.

    Example:

      • if the rating is 1 point of water, the tank needs to be able to store at least 5,000 litres
      • if the rating is 3 points of water, the tank needs to be able to store at least 15,000 litres

    VARIATIONSHampden & Moeraki

      • In June 2005 the schemes committee determined it would prefer to see new users installing 10,000 litre capacity tanks…this overrides the 2001 Bylaw stipulating the storage need for 3 days supply.
      • In rural areas of Hampden and Moeraki, 25,000 litre tanks may still be required.
      • To discuss variations to these requirements please contact the W.D.C Customer Services group.

Urban or Domestic Points Allocation in Kakanui

Kakanui has both Urban and Rural water allocations.

New Water Point allocations on the Kakanui scheme are to be “Rural Points”

Existing Urban or Domestic points are permitted without the need for conversion to the Rural points allocation.

HOWEVER: if a property with an existing Urban or Domestics allocation is sold, the connection wil be converted to a Rural Point allocation, at the owners expense.
