Greenwaste Saturday afternoons at Oamaru Landfill
Greenwaste Saturday afternoons at Oamaru Landfill gives people the opportunity to take greenwaste to Oamaru landfill on a Saturday afternoon and pay by weight across the weighbridge rather than taking it to the Resource Recovery Park and paying by volume. You can still take it to the Resource Recovery Park if you wish to, but if it’s branches and things then you will probably find it cheaper to take it to the landfill. The greenwaste is mulched and used to grow grass and does not go into the tip face. The minimum charge of $10 for greenwaste still applies.
In order to do this Oamaru Landfill will be closed for rubbish from 12 noon on Saturdays.

Holcim Decision.
17th August 2009
The Environment Court has released its decision on the Holcim application. The application has been approved, subject to conditions.
The decision may yet be subject to appeal on points of law to the High Court, and there is still the matter of the Holcim Board of Directors in Switzerland deciding to proceed with the project.
The decision is available here (PDF 5Mb). It runs to 100 pages and it does not contain the appendices referred to in the decision, which we are yet to receive. |
