Walkin N Wheelin
Walkin n’ Wheelin is back - with Weston, Fenwick, St Josephs, Oamaru North and Pembroke Schools actively participating over the next two terms.
Weston, Fenwick and Pembroke are running an interschool challenge for a trophy. St Joseph’s and Oamaru North are focusing on inter class challenges for an active school prize.
Walkin n’ Wheelin has proven to be an effective way of increasing and sustaining the number of students walking, biking, scooting or skateboarding to school. All students have the opportunity to participate with the option to walk around the playground or be dropped off a few blocks from school for those who travel to school by bus or car. This approach makes the activity fully inclusive. Many parents have also benefited from sharing the walk or bike with their children making for a good family activity.
Rooms 4 and 5 at Weston School enjoyed games with Sene Fanene and Joel Palmer while Alison Bank,s Community Safety Officer and Derek Beveridge Waitaki Project Turnaround did a sterling job cooking on the barby. Great fun for all.
